Heap and percolation leaching are used with lowgrade ores which are crushed to an average 1cm particle diameter for this purpose. Heap percolation is practiced on a largescale, 100,000tonne by 35mhigh flattened top ore heaps, which are constructed so as to allow even distribution of liquor and air throughout the heap.
